Last month I decided to take an impromptu trip to Portland for my first time! I’ve never taken a trip solo before and wanted to push my own boundaries before the semester began.
Before going to Portland I really didn’t know what to expect. I usually consider myself a big planner but I hardly did any ahead of time. The first night I got in I decided to try and fit in as much as I could in two days while still taking some time to relax. Here are just a few of the places that I went to.
One place that stood out to me was Tea Bar. So far where I live I haven’t been able to find a matcha place I love. So finding Tea Bar was a welcomed surprise. Luckily they also sell their teas so I was able to bring some back with me.
Another stand out to me was Maak Lab. After visiting Powells Bookstore I decided to wander around towards Voodoo Doughnuts. Maak Lab was hidden right next to Sizzle Pie and I couldn’t help but venture in. A store filled with plants is nearly irresistible to me. Inside smelled absolutely amazing and I bought a little bar of soap to bring back with me.
One of my favorite things about Portland is how walkable the city truly is. Living in Seattle I’m used to having to walk a lot of hills to get almost anywhere. There were a few more little places I explored but didn’t really buy anything from. Overall I would definitely go back to Portland to explore more. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
